Dorothy J. Blaker's Obituary
Dorothy June Blaker, 86, passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2015.
June was born on June 10, 1928, the daughter of Shelby and Lucille Robison. She grew up in Strasburg, IL where she attended Strasburg High School. She played basketball and softball, and was class valedictorian. In 1957, she married Dean Larrick Sr. They had two sons, Dean Larrick Jr. and David Larrick. She later married James Blaker in 1974. He preceded her in death.
June worked for Mississippi Valley Structural Steel for 26 years, after which she and James moved to Midland, TX, where she worked for Concrete Incorporated for another 15 years. They moved back to Illinois in 1989.
June enjoyed quilting, was a loyal St. Louis Cardinals fan, and loved spending time with her four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She loved attending every event of her four grandchildren, from show choir competitions to baseball games. And she made the world’s best deviled eggs.
She is survived by her children, Dean (Pam) Larrick and David Larrick of Decatur, grandchildren, Shelby (Nick) Baum, Kaleigh Larrick, Mackenzie Larrick, and Dean Larrick III all of Decatur, and great-granddaughters, Madison Larrick and Tatum Little.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral service to celebrate Dorothy’s life will be 11 AM Tuesday, February 24, 2014 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday 10-11 AM in the funeral home. Burial will be in Richland Cemetery near Strasburg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Creutzfeldt – Jakob disease Foundation
