Douglas Franklin Compton's Obituary
Mt. Zion-Douglas Franklin Compton, 25, of Mt. Zion, passed away Friday, July 11, 2014 in St. Mary’s Hospital.
Doug was born September 26, 1988 in Decatur, Illinois, the grandson of Archie and Agnes Compton who raised him as their son. He graduated from Mt. Zion High School. He was an avid sports fan. He loved the Blackhawks, Bulls, Bears, and especially the St. Louis Cardinals.
Doug leaves behind his grandparents Archie and Agnes Compton of Mt. Zion, brother Jesse Crum of Mt. Zion, uncle Dan (Hannah) Compton of Mattoon, aunt Laura (Blake) Bryan of Farmington, Minnesota, and his biological mother Teresa Jordan.
Doug was greeted in Heaven by his great-grandparents Jim and Rowena Seman and Franklin and Sylvia Compton.
Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Doug’s life will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at St. James Catholic Church, 742 E. Clay St. Decatur, with Rev. John Burnette, Celebrant. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 14, 2014 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Township Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the wishes of the family in c/o Agnes Compton.
