Douglas Gordon's Obituary
Douglas Gordon, 49, of Decatur passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2011 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Doug was born on July 6, 1962 in Springfield, IL the son of Dan and Joyce Bennett Gordon. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Special Forces in Grenada. He was a member of IBEW union Local #756 and worked for TCCI Manufacturing. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and the outdoors. He was a member of Harvest Christian Center. He married Gayle Newsome on July 11, 2002 in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Surviving are his wife Gayle; mother, Joyce Gordon of Mt. Zion; son, Tim Gordon-Newsham of Decatur; step-sons, Tyler Newsome of Decatur; Andre’ Newsome Amy of Decatur; brothers, Dave Gordon Debbie of Westerville, OH; Dan Gordon Lisa of Rockfalls, IL; mother-in-law, Genevieve Gowan of Decatur; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, and one sister, Sheila.
A memorial service honoring Doug’s life will be 10:00 am Friday, November 4, 2011 in Harvest Christian Center, 2199 North Water Street with Pastor Kirk Henneberry officiating and Military Rites conducted by the Macon County Guard. Memorials are suggested to Harvest Christian Center or donor’s choice.
