Ernest Anthony Wittke's Obituary
Ernest Anthony Wittke, 66, of Decatur, died on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2005 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Funeral Services celebrating his life will be 10 a.m. Sat. Aug. 20, 2005 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, 2005 in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park. Memorials: Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church or Lutheran School Association.
Mr. Wittke was born on December 18, 1938 in Decatur the son of Ernest August and Marjorie Louise Reid Wittke. Ernest graduated from Millikin University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Finance. He worked as a Senior Rate Analyst for A.E. Staley before retiring in 1993 after 37 years of service. Ernest was also an Insurance Agent for UIG and a part time driver for Baldwin Shuttle. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church where he was very active in many capacities including the Men's Club. Ernest was also a member of the Sertoma Club, Dolphin Club, Transportation Club at A.E. Staley, past board member of the Lutheran School Association and a Veteran of the U.S Navy. He married Linda L. Eilert on June 19, 1965 in Mt. Olive.
Surviving are his wife, Linda of Decatur; son, Matthew Wittke of Colorado; daughter, Laura Wittke of Decatur; sisters: Mary Catherine Thomalla of Freeport and Margaret Charles Duncan of Decatur; mother-in-law, Alice Eilert of Decatur; six nephews; two nieces and many friends.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, brother, father-in-law and brother-in-law.
