I just learned of Ev’s passing. Susan and family, I am so sorry for your loss! Ev was a dedicated advocate for his school district clients and, in my role as IEA General Counsel, a worthy adversary. He was tough but in the end open to fair resolution. He has certainly left his mark on education labor relations in this state. He will be very much missed.

My names is Jan Sweet and I have known your father since my first year as a principal in the Mt. Zion School District some forty years ago. He is a person I will always remember as a rock solid individual who gave you his professional opinion in a direct manner so you could understand outcomes. If you listened , he kept you out of professional troubles and I listened. He was also a terrific mentor who was always willing to share.He gave his best to all who he encountered.What a great man he was!

I am so sorry to hear of your father’s passing. His dad, Everett Sr, and my dad, Robert, were brothers. I did not see much of “Nick” after our college years, but three occasions stand out in my mind. The first two were seeing him and his brother Rob at my parents’ funerals. Attendance meant a trip to the Philadelphia area for both of them, and it was a very loving thing for them to do. The third occasion was a few years back, when I visited him and Nikki for a day so that I could visit his dad (my uncle) one more time. They were so gracious in hosting me for this visit!
