Floyd J. Garfoot's Obituary
Floyd J. Garfoot 89 of Decatur passed away on Tuesday March 8, 2005 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Mass of the resurrection celebrating his life will be at 10:00 am Saturday March 12, 2005 in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with Father James O'Shea as celebrant. Visitation will be 5-7:00 pm Friday in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with a Vigil Prayer service at 4:30 pm. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St Teresa High School. Floyd was born on July 28, 1915 in Cross Plains, WI the son of Ira L. and Sybella M. Michaelis Garfoot. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and was a St. Teresa High School graduate class of 1932. He served his country proudly in the US Army during WWII. He worked as an auto mechanic for several Buick dealerships before retiring after forty-four years of service. Floyd married Dorothy E. Heneghan on October 26, 1939 in Decatur and she survives.
Surviving are his wife, special sisters-in-law, Sadie Heneghan and Peggy Heneghan both of Decatur; and Leah Winter of Cedar Rapids, IA; special nephew, Michael Heneghan of Forsyth; numerous nephews, nieces, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, Pat Wayne, two sisters, three brothers, a half sister, a half brother, and three stepsisters.
