George W. Acks' Obituary
George W. “Bill” Acks, 84 of Decatur died at 12:30 pm Friday March 25, 2005 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Funeral Services celebrating his life will be 10 am Monday March 28, 2005 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, where visitation will be Sunday Evening from 6-8 pm. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Riverton. Bill as he was known was born in Hamilton County, IL on August 17, 1920 the son of George W. and Hulda Dulany Acks. He served his country proudly in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion, an alumni of the AACS, former member of the Elks, former member of the Masons, and a member of AMVETS. He was a former member of the Dahlgren First Baptist Church. He married Marcia Jeanne Brown on January 03, 1942, she preceded him in death on April 06, 1967, he later married Nancy Kay Lenover in Decatur on June 08, 1968, she survives. He worked as a Claims Officer for Federal Kemper for over 34 years, retiring in 1985.
Also surviving include his sons; Ronald William Acks and wife Judy of Hayesville, NC and Martin S. Acks and wife Carine of Downers Grove; grandchildren, Brian Michael Acks and Jeffrey Reader and wife Holly; great granddaughter, Emily Ann Reader.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and first wife Jeanne.
