I am sorry I was out of town when Doc passed. My parents are in Florida and didn't hear until rather late as well. I grew up literally across the street from Doc and Emily at the corner of Florian and Olive street in Home Park subdivision in Decatur. I have so many memories of Doc and his kindness, good humor and stories. We shared many a good time fishing and eating our catch. I regret his passing but I also know he is free from the pain of this life and moving on to a much better one. Rod Carter (son of Eugene Carter).

I always smile when I think of Uncle Doc. How many people can we really say that about. I remember visiting Illinois when I was young and when we brought Mom ,Doc's sister, back for her final visit. Uncle Doc took over and almost made us forget why we were there even though he was so sad to be losing his sister. After that he always called us and sent cards and really made us feel loved and a part of our Illinois Family. We all love him and will miss him even though we didn't get to see each other much. Uncle Doc, He was such an awesome uncle ! Always had a smile and a story for us. He always thought to give us a call at Christmas and I really enjoyed chatting with him. He was a generous man with a kind heart. I remember visiting him and Aunt Emily with our mother Evelyn and him taking us out on his boat. What a grand time we had with him. Although my heart is saddened to see him go, I know he is with Aunt Emily, my mother and all the loved ones that has gone before him. They are all our guardian angels now and leaving us with wonderful memories. Love you so much Uncle Doc. RIP
