Helen M. Myers' Obituary
Helen Margaret Myers went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Wednesday January 11, 2012 at DMH and her family was at her bedside, she left this world and stepped into heaven very peacefully.
She was born on January 1, 1932 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Roy Ross and Neva Lynch Ross Todd. She married her soul mate Clarence “Corky” Myers 11/01/1949. He preceded her in death on 09/11/2005.
She attended SDHS and retired from DMH housekeeping. Previously she worked at Borg Warner, and Crane Potato Chips. Helen was a hard worker all her life and spent many long hours taking care of her family which was her heart’s passion.
If her family needed it; count it done. She loved to cook, but not just regular meals she loved baking, and making new recipe’s and wasn’t afraid to try something new for the family to “taste”. She loved making pies, homemade noodles and holiday candy. That candy she made at the Holiday season went on special trays made with love and were delivered personally to friends and family for many years. Helen looked forward to the holiday’s and spending special time with her family making wonderful memories. One of those holiday memories which will be remember but not forgotten was the “Texas Chocolate Sheet Cake” not just any but the one grandma made. Oh and let’s not forget her famous fudge and pumpkin roll’s. Unfortunately some of us never learned how to make. Not because she didn’t try to teach us. Being in the kitchen was her favorite past time.
One of her greatest past times was sitting outside in lawn chairs with her friends and family. She loved just talking and getting caught up on the latest family news and relaxing. She loved spending time outside and yes you could often find a fishing pole in her hand whenever she was near the lake or any pond that had fish to be caught. She also loved to have fun with her friends and bowled on leagues for many years. Along with all these favorite past times she liked watching TV this included soap operas such as The Young and Restless and all the scary black and white movies some even had big ugly ants. Helen absolutely adored the Lawrence Welk show and watched every episode, tormenting her children ' as they had to watch as well. lol
Helen was a member of Resurrection Life Church for many years. She loved going to the church picnics again spending time outdoors with friends and family.
She chose to ask Jesus into her heart as her Lord and Savior then was water baptized on June 02, 2002.
She leaves behind many loved ones including her daughter, Linda David Wise of Harristown: granddaughter, Michelle Matt Rigg of Decatur, children: Trevor, Travis and Miss Gracie; granddaughter Amanda Matt Jobe of Decatur, children: Landon & Logan; grandson Kermit Stokes Jr. of Jacksonville Granddaughter, Wendie Wise of Austin, Texas, child, Payton Stevens; son, Jerry Kelly Myers Sr. of Springfield, Grandson, Jerry Joy Myers Jr. of Springfield, children Allison, Alex, Culton, Catie, Austin and JT; Grandson, Terry Christa Myers of Mechanicsburg, children: McKala, Hannah, Lindsey , Kodi and Ellissa; Grandson, Mike Myers of Springfield, children: Lukeas, Baylee, Bryce, Brylee and Macie; Granddaughter, Lindsay Brad Myers of Springfield children: Bralyn and Preston; Grandson, Randy Myers Springfield; Son, Brian Tammy Myers of Decatur, Granddaughter Miss Adrianna Myers aka “Punkie”; including many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
