Helen Marie Sebok, 87, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away March 15, 2025, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. Helen was born in Fayetteville, Ohio, on April 30, 1937, the daughter of Eugene and Josephine (Stephens) Carlier Read Obituary
Both of my grandmothers-Joan Sadorus (quintenz) and Gayle Casey (DeHaven) went to high-school with Helen. We would see her at mass every week (at St.Patrick’s) and they were all good friends. She lived just two houses down the street from us. She was always the sweetest lady. My grandma Gayle only preceded her in passing by just a couple of months- but I know she would've had something beautiful to say about Ms.Sebok . We will all remember her as the angel she is. <3
Billy I had just finished a book by Billy Graham and I wrote your mom a letter soon after Donnie passed away. Your mom had been through what no mother should ever have to go through. I don’t recall the exact words of my letter but basically it was saying do not be mad at God for the difficulties he’s given you. Your mom wrote me back the most beautiful letter. It was proof of her faith! Her faith is bulletproof and as I mentioned to you, she is home! Helen is a beautiful person inside and out and I am blessed to know her. My deepest condolences to you Billy, Cindy & Jody and your families.
For 20 years my wife and I sat next to Helen at weekend Mass and excluding the Covid shut-down of the Church, I cannot ever recall her missing a Mass. She devoted countless hours volunteering for the Church and I spent many hours with her. Never, did she utter a cross word of anyone. She was truly a lady in every sense of the word. May Cindy, Jody, and all of her family find comfort knowing Helen is now at peace with her Lord and Savior. Blessing for the family.
