Herbert Lee Hedges' Obituary
Herbert Lee Hedges, 75, of Forsyth, died Sunday, June 15, 2008 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Herbert was born June 23, 1932, in Decatur, the son of Clarence E. and Lora Lucille Rhoades Hedges Durbin. A decorated U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, Herbert worked as a machinist at Caterpillar, Inc. before retiring. He married Marilyn Burris on January 19, 1954 and she preceded him in death on September 15, 2000.
He is survived by his daughters: Nancy St. Pierre of Manchester, TN. and Susan Hedges Thomas of Charleston, SC; grandchildren: Penny Hanks of Effingham, Marty St. Pierre of Mt. Zion, Kari Blackwell Greer of Florence, SC; Elizabeth Blackwell Rooney of Ramstein, Germany and David Thomas of Charleston, SC; four great grandchildren; brothers: Clarence Hedges and Girard Durbin of Decatur; sister, Linda Culberson of Macomb.
Funeral service: 2 pm, Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at the Moran &Goebel Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 1 pm. Interment with Military Rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to the Korean War National Museum, 303 North 5th St., P.O. Box 299, Springfield, Illinois 62705.
