Hosie Duckworth, Jr.'s Obituary
The journey of life for Hosie Duckworth Jr. began on July 1st, 1925 in Brownsville, Tennessee to the blessed union of Hosie Duckworth Sr. and Addie (Cobbs) Duckworth. He was one of six children. On September 6, 2012, the heavenly choir needed another angelic voice, and he answered the call.
In the late 1940s, Hosie relocated to Decatur, Illinois where he was employed by Wagners Casting for over 45 years. After retiring from Wagners, he joined Anna Waters Headstart where he truly enjoyed being an acting grandpa to so many little ones. He was also a proud owner of Snappy Shoe Shine for several years. In the mid 50s he married Betty (Buckley) Duckworth and they were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Patricia.He was a faithful member of The Church of the Living God CWFF, and during his early years served as a Deacon.
Hosie had a love for people. His warm personality caused him to never meet a stranger. He truly made an impact on so many during his journey on this earth. While his final days were spent at the Heartland Nursing Center, he would encourage the staff, visitors, and residents with a song or a prayer coming from his room.
To cherish and carry on all his fond memories are his loving wife Betty Duckworth, daughter Patty North (Ron) of Mission Viejo, CA, son-in-law Charles White (Pam) of Decatur, IL, sister Lillie Taylor of Cincinnati, OH, brothers Rankin Duckworth of Decatur, IL and John Duckworth of Brownsville, TN, grandchildren Marlin North, Marcus North, Brenda Pate, Gwendolyn Lewis, Shanteal Lewis, Renee Lewis, Krishna Lewis, 15 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Hosie Sr. and Addie, daughter Pamela White, son Thomas Lewis Batechelor, brother, Robert, sister, Lillian, sister-in-law, Kizzie, granddaughter, Thamisha Brysan.
The home going celebration service will be 11am Thursday, September 13th at The Church of the Living God CWFF. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park.
