Jack A. Coventry's Obituary
Decatur-Lieutenant Jack A. Coventry, DPD Ret. , 75, of Decatur, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 7, 2015 in his home with his wife by his side.
Jack was born March 22, 1939 in Shelbyville, Illinois, the son of Kenneth and Leilia (Fancher) Coventry. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Jack got his bachelor’s degree from the U of I. He was an officer with the Decatur Police Department for thirty-two years and was a Lieutenant for eighteen years. He then served as the Chief of Security at ADM for fourteen years. He was a member of the Police Benevolent Association and enjoyed spending time with friends and playing cards. Jack was an avid fan for the U of I, the Bulls, and the Bears. He married the love of his life Randi Mowry May 27, 1992.
Jack leaves behind his wife Randi, children Michael Soules, Jeff Coventry, Michelle Stewart Coventry, and Robert Smart, brother Don Coventry and wife Dolores, sister-in-law Janice Coventry, and twelve grandchildren.
Jack was reunited in Heaven with his parents, son Jack Coventry Jr., and brothers William and Charles Coventry.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Robert Smart for all of his loving care and support.
Services to celebrate Jack’s life will be 1 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Life Foursquare Church, 2954 W Ash Ave, Decatur. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial with military honors will be in Macon County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the wishes of the family in care of Randi Coventry.
