Jean M. Devereux's Obituary
Jean M. Devereux, 72, of Decatur, passed away Monday, February 11, 2013 in her home.
Jean was born August 4, 1940 in St. Anne, IL, daughter of Edward and Dorothy (Lane) Kassman. An avid Chicago Cub fan and Mickey Mouse fan, Jean was a stay a home mom who was involved in politics in Kankakee before moving to Decatur. She also worked at Available Auto Parts, Catherines and TJ Maxx. Jean married James F. Devereux in Kankakee on August 1, 1959. They loved to camp and spent five years managing the Illinois State Fair Campground.
Surviving are her husband of Decatur; children: Teresa Devereux of New York, James 'Jimmy' (Peggy) Devereux of Decatur; Timothy (Karen) Devereux of Indianapolis, IN, and Joe (Sarah) Devereux of Decatur; grandchildren: Megan Devereux of Orlando, FL, Jillian Devereux of Decatur, Ian Devereux of Bloomington, IN, Lauren Devereux of Bloomington, IN, Ellen Devereux of Normal, and Rachel Devereux of Decatur; sister, Shirley Sommers of Alford, FL; brother, Jerry (Janet) Kassman of Chebanse; sisters-in-law, Joan (Ed) Kadlec of Chicago, Mary Steele of Ft. Atkinson, WI, and Cecelia Kassman of Casa Grande, AZ; brother-in-law, John (Theresa) Devereux of Pearland, TX; eight nephews and seven nieces and many great nieces and nephews along with countless friends.

Memorial Mass of the Resurrection will be 12 pm, Friday, February 15, 2013 in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church; visitation will be from 10 am until the service time in the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to St. Teresa High School Capital Campaign. Interment will take place at a later date. Open house to be held at her home Friday from 4 to 7 pm.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister, and three brothers-in-law.
