Joan Rose Bennyhoff's Obituary
Decatur - Joan Rose Bennyhoff, 96 of Decatur, passed away peacefully at 11:00 am Wednesday June 25, 2025, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her family.
Joan was born on March 10, 1929, in Decatur, the daughter of Robert and Kathryn (Powers) Grace. Joan worked in a dentist office (Dr. Reese) for a few years and then worked at the Country Boutique and Plantation Pine. She volunteered at St. Mary’s Hospital and the Red Cross, was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church and St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary. Joan married the love of her life, John Newton Bennyhoff on January 5, 1950, in Decatur. They celebrated 75 years together.
Surviving are her daughters, Susan Skeffington and her husband John of Decatur and Ann Callahan and her husband Dennis of St. Louis, nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Joan was greeted in Heaven by her parents, husband John, son Johnny, 3 sisters and 1 brother.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11 am Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Holy Family Catholic Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Decatur. Memorials are suggested to Holy Family Catholic Church.
