My family (the Pattons) grew up across the street from the Luckenbills. They were just a great family and my mom and "Luke" were close. Joan was always outgoing and friendly and I was lucky enough to see her off and on when visiting Decatur. My heart goes out to your entire family–you have an angel in Heaven.
Jon and family….I am so sorry about the death of your Mom. Every time I would see her (back in high school and since then) she was so nice and fun to talk to; as both your parents were/are. Your Mom had a lot of great family and friends who loved and cared about her. Her three grown children are her greatest achievement. Now she is up in heaven with the rest of the St. Teresa families..I will keep you and your family in my prayers…..
Bridget and family….I am so very sorry to hear of the loss of your Mom. She was always fun to be around and cared so much about everyone!

Dear Ron and Family, Jim and I were sorry to hear that Joan passed away. We are in Acapulco but Kim called us to tell us the news. We are scheduled to fly home on Thursday but won't get home till very late. Our plane gets in to O'Hare at 10:30 pm. There have been a lot of cancelled flights so aren't even sure right now of times. Will have to make a decision on the funeral once we get home. Just want you to know you are all in our thoughts and prayers. Our sincerest sympathy to all of you. Jim and Joyce Peters
Dear Ron & Family,I was SO SORRY to hear about Joan's passing! You and she were 2 of the very best Red Cross volunteers that I came to know and love during my 11 years there as Executive Director. Dedicated and committed, humble and giving, always there in a pinch for someone in need, you guys were amazing!! I remember all your and her hard work and long hours during the ice storm of '96, at the Emergency Services Institutes at Millikin, and all those middle-of-the-night calls when you were out in the cold or heat, bringing help, comfort, and relief to victims of fires, floods, etc. You made me very proud just to be associated with you and with the Red Cross!! Unfortunately, Martha and I are in Florida right now, and we will be unable to make it back for Joan's visitation and services. But please know that we will be there with you in spirit. May God give you strength and peace! With sincerest love, sympathy, & admiration,Dennis Eller
