To the Houser family:John visited me on Monday and we discussed all of life's little problems as we always do. When he left here with a water in one hand. he waved and I was fortunate to pat him on the back and say good by. Little did I know that was his farewell visit, and thank God I will cherish that wave and visit forever. John was a friend,a friend in every sense of the word. He was a man among men and great father and mentor. I cannot fathom the loss to Houser family. Please remember all the wonderful times we got to share with him…and may God soften this terrible loss we have all suffered. He will be forever missed.Ernie and Linda Strate DECATUR, IL 62526

I would like to express to each and every one of you, Winny, Zona, Mark, Kelly, Todd and Grandchildren. Johnny left a legacy of love, support and kindness. What a wonderful gift to receive and cherish. There are so many times I have seen the extent of kindness, like slipping on a pair of shoes for one of my kids when they were little as we were leaving your house or babysitting your kids so Winny could bowl even handing my grandsons five dollars a piece probably just to see a smile on their faces, various things come to mind. One in particular he had a saying to Michele when she was little and it went like this "Michele she's swell she's made by Mattel". He enjoyed the saying as much as my daughter did, which made her giggle and him laugh. The many times he stopped by the drug store with Zonna to either chat for a while or buy Winny a gift. A generous man with a loving nature, how lucky for each and every one of you to have shared a life with him. Aunt Nona Decatur, IL US
