John D. Myers' Obituary
John D. Myers Jr., 61, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2014 in his home with his family by his side.
John was born on August 14, 1953 in Decatur, IL, the son of John D. Myers, Sr. and Shirley “Jackie” (Scott) Myers Kaufman. John graduated from Stephen Decatur High School. He had a longtime love of the outdoors. For over 30 years, John worked and ran Myers Landscaping Service. When he wasn’t working, he liked to relax outside by his pond. John had many interests, which includes racing, his golf carts, and his dogs.
John leaves behind his fiancé, Teri Moore of Decatur; mother, Shirley “Jackie” Myers Kaufman of Decatur; daughter, Tiffany Milstone of Phoenix, AZ; brothers, Dudley Myers of Decatur; William (Marla) Myers of Wisconsin; sister, Becky (Myers) Baker of Decatur; granddaughter, Gianna Milstone; nieces and nephews, Janice Mitchell; Hannah and Garrett Baker; great-nieces and nephews, Skyler, Logan, and Morgan Mitchell; and extended family, Heather (Brian) Moore-Hinton of Mattoon; Keri (Ben) Moore-Durbin of Shelbyville; Shelbi, Abbi, and Benjamin Moore –Hinton of Mattoon; and Lela, Louie, Rylee, and Kynlee Moore-Durbin of Shelbyville.
He is preceded by his father and nephew, Jonathan Myers.
Honoring John’s wishes, cremation services will be provided by Moran & Goebel Funeral Home.
A celebration of John’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of John may be made to Independence Pointe, Inc. (formerly Easter Seals of Central Illinois, Inc.).
