Joseph George Bart's Obituary
Joseph George Bart, 76, of Decatur passed away 2:30 P.M. Thursday, February 18, 2010 in his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, February 22, 2010 in St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2727 N. Union Street, Decatur with Pastor Richard Krenzke officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 - 11:00 A.M. Monday in the church. Burial will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church or Macon Resources.
Joe was born in Decatur on October 26, 1933, the middle son of William and Helen Kopetz Bartuschewski. On December 31, 1954 he married Audrey Douglas.
He enjoyed over two years in the Naval Reserves, before spending two years in the Army, serving in Germany. For twenty years he worked at Superior Welding and under Keystone Industries, became President of Union Iron Works, a sister company. He later became a partner and Executive Vice President of Kopetz, Inc.
Joe was a devout Christian, loved classical music, and designing and building with stainless steel. His pride and joy was growing many varieties of grapes and making wine. He and Audrey traveled in all fifty states and over thirty foreign countries. All of his “Barn Buddies” will be missed.
Surviving are his wife, Audrey, daughters, Jacki Bart of Decatur; Janatha David Thrasher of Decatur; and Julie Frank Dunmire of Macon; grandchildren, Bart and Chelsea Dunmire, and brother, Stephen Bart.
His parents and brother, Robert proceeded him in death.
