Dear Lakshmanan Family,I had the honor and privilege of working with Joe at both Illinois Power and Dynegy. He was a trusted advisor and loyal friend. I donâ??t believe I ever had a meeting with Joe without him mentioning his girls and asking about mine. My thoughts and prayers are with your family during this difficult time. With sincerest condolences,Lisa Krueger
I worked with Joe during my 10 years at IP/Dynegy. To this day I think of him every time I see a beautiful orchid (Oh that hothouse of an office of his!) or evaluating a contract or regulation. I will always remember him for his patience, love of family and that smile, and am forever grateful for the opportunity to work with and learn from him. Thanks for sharing him with us. I am so sorry for your loss. Sincerely, Michelle (Nesbit) Lehman

The Furman Family expresses our condolences to Julie, the girls, and the remainder of Joe's family and friends. We know the family through Our Lady of Lourdes School and parish and Debbie worked with Joe at Illinois Power and Dynegy and now "from the other side" on Ameren Illinois and Dynegy dealings. Whether chatting at a school event or getting business done, we were always pleased to speak to Joe who listened well, sometimes adding his characteristic laugh to the conversation, added valuable advice, and always asked of our family as he shared with us what his girls were up to at that point. We never had a conversation where one of the kids didn't come up. Debbie greatly appreciated Joe's time at work all of these years sharing his great knowledge of the law and of the utility business. We always joked with him that we couldn't believe his undergrad degree was not in engineering because he strived to always understand the basis of our work. He was quick to share that knowledge and taught many of us to be better at watching out for the law in our work. Our WWJD at work was usually "what would Joe do". ?? We will miss calling Joe with a work issue or seeing him at Lourdes or around town. Our prayers are offered for you all.
I worked with Joe for 6 years at IP, and he was a good teacher of the law. I wish his obituary were more complete with his scholastic achievements because I know there were many. The obit also omits his mother's location so that we may send her a word of kind thoughts. Joe would like my critique of his obit because he had an eagle eye on typos and wording (smile). What the obit did share was his absolute love for his daughters and I know he must have had a very heavy heart on leaving them. My heart goes out to his babies. R.I.P. JLL
I would like to send my deepest condolences to the Lakshmanan family for the loss of Joseph. As a long time friend and colleague of Mark Lakshmanan, I have heard many storied and anecdotes about his beloved brother, and I know he will be sorely missed. Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time. With sincerest condolences,Pawel & Lou Fludzinski
Teresa, thank you for your kind comments. Joe's 12 year old daughter wrote the obituary. Joe received his undergraduate degree in Biophysics from the University of California at Berkeley (Go Bears). He received his J.D. from Franklin Pierce Law Center in Concord, New Hampshire. After law school Joe had a First Circuit Appellate Court clerkship before working in D.C. Our family then moved to Illinois where Joe worked for Illinois Power for 10 years followed by his career with Dynegy. I'm sorry this information was not included because we are so proud of his academic and professional achievements. We have been so overwhelmed, and Tegan really wanted to convey the kind of person Joe was and the love he had for his family. Thanks to all for everything you have done to help.
