Joseph L. Lakshmanan's Obituary
Forsyth – When Joe Lakshmanan (51) went to heaven on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, he became a guardian angel to his three daughters, Tegan (12), Tatiana (22), and Allie (24).
Joe was born on September 28, 1961, to his parents, Florence and Sitarama Lakshmanan. He is survived by his mother as well as his four siblings, Mark, Monica, Carl, and Leela. He is also survived by his wife of almost 30 years, Julie. He loved his family very much.
Joe treasured his role as a dad. Whether he was playing catch in the back yard, bowling with the family, or coaching Tegan's soccer team, he really made an effort to be involved in his daughters' interests. He went to every school spelling bee, speech contest, and graduation ceremony. He also loved to play games and watch movies with all of his girls.
Joe enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, and playing card games. He could always be found on weekend mornings with a cup of coffee, doing a crossword puzzle. His competitive edge came out in his 'friendly' chess matches. He was also a member of the Commodore Bridge Club, usually playing twice a week.
Joe was valued for his unbending integrity, honesty, and loyalty. These qualities contributed to his success as a lawyer. He will be greatly missed by his colleagues, friends, and family.
Mass of Christian Burial celebrating his life will be 10 a.m., Monday, April 22, 2013, in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Rev. Rick Weltin, celebrant; visitation will begin at 9 a.m. in the church. Memorials are suggested to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School Science Program or Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
The Lakshmanan family is being served by the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 2801 Monroe St, Decatur, IL. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.moranandgoebel.com.
