Condolences from Joe's high school friend Don Casey Collier. Lots of memories of you Joe, great friend, from Don and Arlene
Went to high school with Joe. We lived in the Moundford neighborhood and rode the same bus. We shared a love of music. I remember us trading jabs on countless music related topics from the Beatles/Maynard Ferguson to self-taught/trained. We even nit-picked over pianos. I grew up with a Yamaha, Joe, a Steinway, (both uprights). Joe invited me to play his...once. lol.
Joe was a remarkable musician. The trombone was a part of who he was. I never disputed either of those facts. To my knowledge, he never lost the passion. As the years passed I would occasionally see Joe, we'd drink a beer and pick up where we left off, although a bit more mellow.
I salute you Mr. Mundell. Move over Gabriel, there's a new 1st chair.
Long time freind.loved mushroom hunting and the Blues.he will be greatly missed.
Joe was my operator at Mueller, I was his planner. We rarely spent time talking about Mueller, but instead - books, poetry, and Cadillac's!! He was a great friend and very kind to me. He bought one of my books and sent it to a now mutual friend of ours who also writes poetry! He will be missed! My sincere condolences to the family!
I remember Joe from Stephen Decatur HS. We went to my junior year prom. He was in band and we talked during class hour switch from band to orchestra, which I was in. He was always a gentleman and a sweet kid. I didn't know Joe after high school as I left the area. It seems like he enjoyed his life here and still had his music.
My sincere condolences to his family
I met Joe at Schafer bowling ally. He was always a good friend.
My deepest condolences to the family. Joe was such a a good person. He loved going mushroom hunting and then bragging. I always called him "Santa Claus and he would laugh. He always could put a smile on my face and I will miss him greatly.
