Joy Louise Eckel's Obituary
Joy Louise Eckel of Decatur entered into Heaven, Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Aperion Care with her family by her side.
Louise was born February 18, 1928 in Kansas, IL, the daughter of Ula Joy (Honnald) and Willis P. Hawkins. She married Dale E. Eckel on March 30, 1947 in Kansas, IL. In 1990, Louise retired from the City of Decatur Water Department after 30 years of service. She was a member of Maranatha Assembly of God.
She is survived by her husband, Dale; daughters, Sharon LeCates (Francis “Lee”); and Marilyn Burton (Lester); grandchildren, Thomas Burton (Sarah), Nathan Burton (Dawn), Sarah Rowe (Randy), Megan Foor (Phillip); great-grandchildren, Zachery Burton; Stephanie and Sasha Rowe; Christina and James Huckile; Robby and Aaron LeCates; Alexis, Liam, Jack, and Owen Burton; great-great grandson, Corbin Slaymaker; sister, Donna Payne (Jim); and special friends, Carl and Nadeen Williams.
She is reunited in Heaven with her parents; son, Edward Eckel; brothers, David, Herbert, Nelson Hawkins and sister Boneva Hawkins; grandchildren, Terry LeCates and Linda (LeCates) Huckile.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Funeral services to celebrate Louise’s life will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at the funeral home with Rev. Douglas Lowery officiating. Burial to follow at Marrow Bone Cemetery in Bethany, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Maranatha Assembly of God.
