Joyce M. Ottinger's Obituary
Bloomington, IL – Joyce M. Ottinger, 84, of Bloomington, formerly of Venice, FL and West Lafayette, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2015 in Bloomington, IL.
Joyce was born May 29, 1931 in Chicago, IL the daughter of Charles and Mildred (Smuck) Mattice. She was a loving wife and mother to her husband and three children. Prior to raising a family she was an elementary school teacher. Joyce was involved in theater and music, was an avid traveler and a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church. Her humanitarian and generous spirit improved the lives of many. She married Donald R. Ottinger, a professor at Purdue University, in Chicago, IL on May 15, 1954.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 61 years, Don in Bloomington, IL; children: Brian (Nancy) Ottinger of Pittsburgh; PA, Kurt (Nina) Ottinger of Bloomington, IN; and Betsy (Dan) Goebel of Bloomington, IL. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Katie Ottinger, Dan (Betsy) Ottinger and their daughter June, Ian (Samantha) Ottinger, Eric Ottinger, Alex Goebel and Melanie Goebel. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy Machinski of Montoursville, PA, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation.
