Lewis Pitts' Obituary
Lewis Pitts, 64, of Decatur, passed away Friday morning, June 15, 2018, in his home with his wife of 35 years by his side.
Lewis was born July 9, 1953, in Decatur, IL, to Oscar Lewis and Flora Bernice (English) Pitts. He attended Warrensburg Schools and played football. He married Debra “Candy” D. Bergey on August 16, 1985, in Decatur, IL. He was one of the best musicians in Decatur, loved the blues and wrote over 350 songs. He started the band The Bone Dogz.
He is survived by his wife, Candy; two sons, Gabe (April) Pitts and Ian Pitts; his sister, Suzie (Glen) Hathaway; his brothers, Dick (Sherry) Hathaway and his brother he never knew, Jimmy (Renee) Naughton; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give special thanks to a dear friend and pastor, Kris Watlett, who drove many miles to pray and anoint Louie at the last days of his life. Thank you to a very dear friend Kelli (Steve) Wetherholt. Thank you to Cancer Care and Hospice for your love and compassion.
He will be missed by many but never forgotten. He is now in Heaven playing music with the best of the best.
Visitation services to celebrate the life of Lewis Pitts will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2018, at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Prayer service will follow the visitation at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated later.
