Lloyd S. Swanson's Obituary
Lloyd S. Swanson, 63, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2014 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Lloyd was born October 31, 1950 in Chicago, IL, the son of Ralph Stanley and Imogene (Smith) Swanson. He was the President of the Decatur Noon Sertoma Club, a member of the Civil War Round Table, the National Rifle Association, and a member of The Banner of St. Michael, a Polish reenactment group. When he was younger he was involved in the Civil Air Patrol. He retired as a Master Patrol Officer from the Decatur Police Department. He married Susan O’Brien on July 19, 1975 in Decatur, IL. She preceded him in death on May 2, 2007. He later married Denise Hall on August 24, 2013 in Decatur.
Lloyd leaves behind his wife, Denise; mother, Imogene Swanson of Decatur; son, Andrew Swanson of East Peoria, IL; stepson, Don Laws of Springfield, IL; brother, Karl (Hila) Swanson of Tryon, NC; and granddaughter, Alaina Laws.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Susan, and his father.
Services to celebrate Lloyd’s life will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 23, 2014 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2014 at the funeral home. Burial will be in North Fork Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Lloyd may be made to the Susan and Lloyd Swanson Memorial Scholarship in care of Community Foundation of Macon County.
