Lucille (King) Treadwell's Obituary
Decatur- Lucille (King) Treadwell, 104, of Decatur, passed away August 23, 2013 at Fairhavens Christian Home, Decatur, IL.
Lucille was born April 5, 1909 to the late William and Maggie King in Starksville, MS. She accepted Christ at an early age at the Black Jack Baptist Church in Starksville, MS. She moved to St. Louis MO in 1942 and married Eddie Treadwell on February 16, 1943.
In 1946, the couple moved to Decatur, IL where she united with New Salem Baptist Church and later with Northside Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and served until her health began to fail and she was unable to attend.
She worked various jobs as a cook and housekeeper through out her life.
She is survived by her step-daughters Carolyn Treadwell-Butler of Decatur, IL; Gwendolyn Treadwell-Musgrave of Davenport, IA; Pamela Treadwell-Waller of Waldorf, MD, 4 step-grand children, Alisha and Michelle Young of New York, NY; Talia Dixon and Zegory Musgrave of Davenport, IA. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, and 5 sisters.
The family would like to thank the staff at Fairhavens Christian Home and Safe Haven Hospice for the care provided to Lucille.
Homegoing service to celebrate Lucille’s life will be 11 AM Saturday, August 31, 2013 in The Greater Northside M.B. Church, 929 N. Lowber Street, Decatur, IL 62521. Visitation will be one hour prior to service in the church, with Revered Marshall Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, followed by a “Flight Home” ceremony. Memorial donations are suggested to Safe Haven Hospice.
