Lydia Ann Harris' Obituary
Lydia Ann Harris, 71, of Decatur, died Wednesday, November 19, 2008, in her home.
Service will be 11:00 am Tuesday, November 25, 2008 in New Salem Baptist Church. Visitation will be one hour prior. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery at 2:00 pm Tuesday.
Lydia was born on December 28, 1936, in Omaha, NB, the daughter of Marcelle and Mildred Holman Ousley. She married Willie T. Harris, Jr. He preceded her in death. She was a dedicated and devoted nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital for 41 years. After she retired, she was committed to visiting nurses for several years. She also enjoyed shopping and traveling. She was a member of New Salem Baptist Church. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Esparaz and his staff for their exceptional care.
Surviving are her four children, Stephanie Dawson Willie, of Decatur; Cynthia D. Harris, of Springfield; Michael Harris, of Decatur; and Denise Harris-White, of Decatur; five grandchildren, Antonio, Tiara, Westley, Mikayla, and Brianna; and two great-grandchildren, Tristeona and Laela; two sisters-in-law, Marjorie Beasley, and Willie Mae Beasley, both of Decatur; one brother-in-law, Smith Harris, of Arlington, TX; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband; three brothers-in-law, Lawrence Beasley, John Beasley, and James Otis Harris.
