Mom lost her husband of over 50 years, a grandchild, and had open-heart quadruple surgery, all within a six month period and simply got up and kept going. She was a true example of "Acceptance". Her faith in God kept her strong.Mom loved all her children and prayed for them many times. There is no prayer stronger than a mother's prayer for her children.Every year she would attend the annual Decatur Celebration. She enjoyed the entertainment as well as seeing old friends. She always made a point to bring something home for dad to eat.She enjoyed garage sales and would proudly show you a popular name-brand "pocket-book" she purchased for only 25 cents.Mom did God's will and has surrendered to win.So grateful for God's gift of my Mom.Danny Paul Smith

Aunt Marjorie was still living with my grandparents when I was a kid. At that time she was a teenager with young hopes of boyfriends and marriage. She spent much time embroidering for her hope chest and listening to love songs on Grandma and Grandpa's battery-powered Atwater-Kent radio. Was she dreaming of the time when she would walk down the aisle?By the time World War II came along, she had realized the dreams those love songs promised and married my Uncle Paul. Did she use those embroidered pillow cases on their marriage bed? Whatever her realized hopes, they produced three kids and perhaps she listened to love songs well into her later years. Those songs don't go out-of-date, do they? She seemed happy the last time I saw her in 2013.
