Mark S. Brumleve's Obituary
Mark Steven Brumleve, 62, peacefully went to celebrate eternal life on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at 12:16pm surrounded by his family. Mark was given to us on August 12, 1961, parented by Gerald “Jeep” and Rita Brumleve in Effingham, IL and later raised in Decatur, IL.
Mark was a St. Teresa High School graduate of the Class of 1979. He entered his apprenticeship in 1981. He was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 65/137 where he worked for 44 years, as a pipefitter, most recently retiring from the University of Illinois.
Mark married the love of his life, Patti Kay Benson, on August 5, 1983, driving off together in his beloved Boss 302 Mustang. They celebrated over 40 wonderful years of life together. They raised 6 beautiful children, Clint (friend Dayna) of Decatur; Chet wife Heidi of Decatur; Lena husband Garrett of Mahomet; Sarah husband Jayson of Mahomet; Shane and Rylie, both of Decatur. He adored his two sweet grandbabies Charles and Lydia and cherished the time spent with them.
Mark was an avid fisherman along with enjoying his hobby of hunting, both of which he shared a love for with his children. Some of his favorite past times were managing his vegetable garden every spring and watching the Cubs, hoping for a win. He coached his son’s and daughter’s baseball and softball teams and never missed a sporting event or activity his children participated in. Family was always number one to Mark and he was their biggest supporter.
Mark is survived by his wife, Patti, his six children and two grandchildren, brothers Doug of Decatur (Velma); and Bruce wife Becki of Dewitt and many nieces and nephews.
To know Mark was to love him. He will be dearly missed by his wife, children, grandchildren and the many family members and friends that touched his life.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 6, 2024, from 5-7pm at the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home; vigil prayer service will be at 4:30pm. Funeral mass will be 10am, Friday, June 7, 2024, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Boiling Springs Cemetery.
