Mary Katherine "Kay" Layton's Obituary
Mary Katherine “Kay” Layton, 66, of Decatur, formerly of Springfield, died 6:16 p.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2008, in Decatur Memorial Hospital in the loving arms of her husband, children, and grandchildren.
Mrs. Layton was born January 30, 1942 in Springfield,
Illinois, the daughter of Alex and Ruth Blush, and step-daughter of Edward Petrosky. Kay was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and a graduate of Springfield High School. She married Theodore Dennis Layton on April 8, 1961 at the The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Springfield, Illinois.
Kay was a homemaker, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed traveling, knitting, singing in the church choir, socializing with the “Red Hats”, and visiting with her family and many friends. The beautiful scrapbooks that she created will provide us with lasting memories.
Surviving are her husband T. Dennis; daughter Denise Bushell and her husband Marty of Decatur; son Steve Layton and his wife Lori of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren, Matthew and Michael of Decatur; brother, Gary Pertrosky and his wife Nora of Springfield; a host of nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law.
Kay was preceded in death by her son, Michael Dennis and her parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 5 pm. Sunday, February 17, 2008 in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Visitation will be two hours prior to the mass. Private burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Decatur. Memorials: Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
