Micheal Eugene Odeneal's Obituary
Michael Eugene Odeneal, 62, of Decatur, IL died Monday, March 22, 2010 in Memorial Medical Hospital-Springfield, IL.
Michael was born in Decatur, IL on January 25, 1948 the son of Nelson Odeneal and Amanda Belue Odeneal. Michael obeyed the Gospel at the North Jasper Street Church of Christ and was faithful until his death. He served in the United States Air Force and was retired from A.E. Staley Tate & Lyle and CCI Industries. Michael was a good son, father, brother and husband. He graduated Stephen Decatur High School and attended Richland Community College and Eastern Illinois University. He had a gentle spirit, loved playing spades, was kind to everyone, never complained a good listener, friend and loved God and his Church Family.
Surviving is his wife, Betsy; daughters, Cheri Jo Scott of Humble, TX; Carla, D’Wayne Copper of Tyrone, GA; Tracy John Kern of Bolingbrook, IL; and Tamara Howard David of Champaign, IL; sons, Lance Michael Odeneal and Melvin L. Reed Jr. of Decatur; John H. JackieHoward III, Rodney Howard and Mark A. Ambrose of Champaign, IL; Jamison Trina Ambrose of Stone Mountain, GA; sisters; Josephine Odeneal of Springfield, IL and Gloria Jean Williams of Decatur, IL; and many grandchildren, other family and friends.
His parents, two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Special thanks to The Jasper St. Church of Christ Family, and Dr. Duncan, Dr. Velasco, Dr. Estrada, nurses and other staff at the Cancer Care Center, Davita Decatur East Wood Dialysis Dr. Krall, other Doctors, Nurses and Staff and all the Doctors and Staff at St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur, St. John’s Hospital and Memorial Medical Center of Springfield for all of the care and attention given to Michael over the years.
Homegoing services will be 10:30 am Friday in Jasper Street Church of God with Brother Mayo Towels officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 pm Thursday in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
