I have many memories of my Grandpa and he will be truly missed. I enjoyed the time we got to spend with him and hearing his stories – especially the one about Ted Williams! I also enjoyed getting to see him more often when we moved him up to Waconia, MN and got to share many drinks with him and watch sports — I forgive you for being a Cardinal fan but it would be nice for you to tell the big man up above that he would have some ecstatic grandsons and a son-in-law if he would allow the Cubs to win a World Series. We will miss you Grandpa but at least we have the memories of you to get us through.Love,Matt Fiala

I always remembered and cherished the story about how uncle Jack told my Mom (his sister Patricia) to give a nice guy a chance and go out on a date with that Bob Metzger fellow. Jack, Thank you for serving as a admirable example for my generation. With your amiable personality and good nature, your company was always enjoyable. You were a kind husband to Hilary and a good father to Kathy. As a kid, it was a treat riding in your VW auto and remember your conversations with the family at 2015 (Hilary's parent's home). Watched your career as a lawyer develop and learned always to keep educating oneself throughout all stages of life. Rest in peace, Jack.

Jack, Enjoyed your good nature and amiable personality. You were a good husband to Hilary and father to Kathy. It was fun riding in your VW automobiles when I was a kid.Remember you meeting with the family when you were in law school in Chicago and subsequently watching your career develop as a lawyer in Decatur. When we think of Jack, the first thing that comes to mind is his booming laugh. He liked hearing a good joke and LOVED telling one. He was a stern but just man. Very honorable. He was a staunch Catholic and good example for his faith. He was a good husband and father and we are so proud to call him uncle. We will miss him, as will many, but we know he is at home and at peace. Rest in peace, dear Jack.

Uncle Jack, You truly was a man of great integrity. As a young man i was very intimidated by the stern voice, the distance i had to look up too see you. You commanded respect and your compassion for Grandma and Grandpa was the utmost. As a man, I grew to know you and understood. That you was bigger than the voice, though i never grew as tall I could look you in the eyes. And thats when i knew. You was truly what the oldest son should be." The Anchor in the storm." I thank you not only for the special memories of "grand" irish parties. The big family reunions. But for showing me what the oldest sons responsibilities are. I remember a time when Matt, Brian, and I were visiting Pop and Grandma during a college break. This was the first time that we were all of age to drink, and we were excited to get to drink with Pop, after many years of watching him enjoy a cold one. He was excited to, as we could tell he had a little more hop in his step. Someone should have warned us, we were ametuers in the presence of a seasoned veteran. Matt, Brian, and I were only halfway through our first when Pop was bringing out round two. This pace continued all night as we all told tales of previous drinking adventures. Before long my two brothers and myself were ready to retire, we all headed off to bed expecting to sleep into the late morning. I don't think the sun was even up when I heard Pop in the kitchen making breakfast. We all got up and sat at the breakfast bar as he served us our meal in a cheerful manner, and a beer in hand – as if the previous nights drinking had not phased him. It was apparent to me that none of us young men had truly woken up and were ready for the day, and it was at that point that Pop cracked open three beers and set them in front of us. We were beaten young college men waiving the white flag to a retired Marine.

I was lucky to call him my Grandpa. I am grateful for getting to spend time with him. I never heard him complain, about anything. He kept to his word, and expected the same. He was my Grandpa. He showed us his medals, he told us war stories. He taught me how to fish, he taught me how to be patient. He was my Grandpa. He was cheerful, playful, made us laugh with his â??crazy eyes.â? He let us sleep over and watch TV late at night. He took us for rides on his â??floatâ? boat. He made life warmer and sweeter, he was my Grandpa.

Pop See – from the first time I met you and you interrogated me before I could go out with your daughter until your last hours, you were a man of integrity and character. I had the pleasure of knowing you for the last 40 years. You were a wonderful grandfather to Kathy's and my kids, you always had a kind word, some sage advice, or even a hilarious joke.
