O.L. Bud Gann's Obituary
Otis L. “Bud” Gann 82 of Decatur died Friday October 8th, 2004 in his home surrounded by his family.
Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Monday October 11th, 2004 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. A vigil prayer service will be held at 4:30 pm. Mass of the Resurrection celebrating his life will be at 10 am Tuesday October 12, 2004 in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Father Rick Weltin celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Illiopolis following the Mass, In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Bud was born on September 14th, 1922 in Waynesville, MO. The first son of William “Wild Bill” Preston and Blanche Ophelia Tobin Gann. He graduated from Kings Point Merchant Marines Academy in 1944. He was a veteran of World War II. Bud married Anne M. Hughes on August 14, 1945 V.J. Day on Long Island, NY. Bud worked for Illinois Power as an Electrical Engineer for 42 years, retiring in 1988. Bud was a licensed River Boat Captain, member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the National Rifle Association. Bud was an avid hunter and fisherman and was happiest spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years; son, Michael wife, Laurie Gann of Charleston; daughters; Patricia Braden of Stover, Mo; Barbara husband, Michael of Orfordville, WI. ;sister, Vera McBride of San Antonio, TX; Samantha, Ryan, Kalob, Matthew, Emily, Adam, Drake and Conor.
His parents, and one brother preceded him in death.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed, but live in our hearts until we meet again.
