Patricia A. Slifer's Obituary
Patricia A. Slifer, 87, of Decatur, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Fair Havens Christian Village in Decatur.
Patricia was born June 29, 1931, in Macon County, the daughter of Henry and Veronica Meyer. She married Franklin Keith Slifer, Sr. in 1951.
Patricia was a long time member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and also a member of the choir for over 60 years. In addition, she was a member of the Red Cross, a volunteer tax preparer for the senior center, and visited the sick at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was a home room mom, an avid reader, gardener, animal lover, especially cats, crocheted afghans, and made christening outfits for families in need. She dearly loved camping and fishing. Patricia was a very loving mom who was always there for her family.
Surviving are her two daughters, Geraldine Slifer and Patricia (Mike) Glaub; sons, Daniel (Deb) Slifer; Timothy (Angela) Slifer; Douglas Slifer; and David (Sherry) Slifer; 18 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three siblings; her beloved husband; one son, Keith Jr. (Cheryl); and one grandson.
A visitation will be Tuesday, April 2, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 at Moran and Goebel Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Decatur. Burial will follow mass in Berea Cemetery in Mt. Auburn. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick Church.
