One of my memories of my dad was the vegetable garden in the back yard out by the railroad tracks he tilled and planted when we lived in the small gray house on Olive Street. The food from his garden was fresh, unprocessed and very tasty. Big crisp radishes that didnt taste like they'd been shipped cross country. And fat juicy tomatoes that I would bite into whole and eat like an apple.I also remember one time when I was about 9 or 10, he sat me in his lap and let me steer the truck while driving slowly down Olive Street.I also remember there was almost always some race car in the garage in the process of being built. My dad was very good with tools and welding and he knew how to put things together.

What a fella, Chopper was a hard worker and a man of laugher. You will be missed I'm so glad to have met you and been apart of your life. You made me laugh every time you called me Big Potato and or Sweet Apple. Rest now big guy rest, you were always a hard worker and now you can rest in peace. It was my pleasure taking care of you in your later days of your life. Tammy Myers- Sweet Apple
