Paul Leroy Myers' Obituary
Decatur – Paul L. “Chopper” Myers Sr., 76, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2013 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
He was born Jan. 17, 1937, in Moweaqua, a son of Albert Wesley and Rosie Lee Daniels Myers. Paul worked hard all his life as a self employed Landscaper, Snow Removal and yes you guessed it Chopping Wood. He also loved racing. In fact, it wouldn’t be a surprise if you saw him setting at Macon Speedway in his ball cap eating some popcorn. He also had a passion for working on vehicles; he was always tinkering with some type of vehicle or lawn equipment in his garage. Paul always offered up some maintenance advice to anyone that needed some help. Lastly, he loved music and loved to dance and sing when he was able. His favorite song was “Old Time Rock and Roll”. Paul will be truly missed and his laughter will never be forgotten along with his ornery side.
Surviving are his children: Pam Myers, Kathy Stewart, Paul L. Myers Jr., and Todd Myers. Sisters: Lexie Cook and Rosemary (Russell) Leonard; along with several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; six sisters; two brothers.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday, January 20, 2014 in Macon Cemetery, Macon, IL. There will be no visitation.
Special thanks to Dr. Totel and Staff for taking such good care of Chopper over all these years and being his friend, also Tammy and Brian Myers niece/nephew who loved him until the end and taught him where love came from Jesus Christ. Paul accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and because of this good news we will see him again one day.
