Philip L. Polley's Obituary
Philip L. Polley, 78, of Decatur, died Tuesday, January 5, 2010 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Philip was born March 11, 1931, in Decatur, the son of Leslie and Juanita Little Polley. A U.S. Marine Veteran of the Korean War, Philip was the owner/operator of P-S Sales and Service for 44 years before retiring in 1993. A dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, Philip was an avid St. Louis Cardinal and U of I fan who loved to hunt, fish and travel. He married Shirley D. Stalets August 30, 1952 in Pana.
Surviving is his wife of more than 57 years, Shirley; children: Phillip L. Polley, David L. wife, Tammy Polley, Karen K. husband, Brent Nausley, and Thomas A. wife, Janet Polley all of Decatur; grandchildren: Matt wife, Jennifer Polley, Jason wife, Brenda Polley, Melissa Polley, Cassandra Kester, Kenneth wife, Hanna Kester, Jennifer Northington, and Joseph Northington; eight great grandchildren; sister, Ruth Ann husband, Bob Broom of Aurora, CO; brother, Tom Wife, Betty Polley of Decatur; sisters-in-law: Shirley A. Polley of Decatur, and Donna Polley of Oblong; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Philip was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Gene, Rod, and John and sister, Phyllis.
The family will receive friends from 12 pm until the service time at 2 pm Saturday, January 9, 2010 at the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials: American Cancer Society.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at DMH ICU and 4400 for the loving care and concern shown to Philip and his family during the last few weeks.
