Phyllis K. Wells' Obituary
Phyllis K. Wells, 97, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2015, in Imboden Creek Living Center.
Phyllis was born January 28, 1918 in Mason City, IA, the daughter of Harry and Mary (Moore) Knapp. She graduated from Mason City High School and attended junior college in Mason City, IA. Phyllis was a long-time member of Bethlehem Presbyterian Church. She was also a member and a former president of All States Club. Phyllis was an avid bridge player. She was active in politics and worked as an election judge. She married Leon P. Wells Jr. on February 9, 1947 in Mason City, IA and they shared 43 wonderful years together. He preceded her in death on September 20, 1990.
Phyllis leaves behind her sons, Leon (Liz) Wells of Decatur, IL; Ralph (Betsy) Wells of Readyville, TN; daughter, Mary (Bill) Flott of Dwight, IL; brother, Robert H. Knapp of Des Moines, IA; grandchildren, Sarah (Adam) Ross of Downers Grove, IL; Rachel Wells of Cincinnati, OH; Leon P. Wells IV of St. Paul, MN; Libby Wells of Champaign, IL; Scott Wells of Murfreesboro, TN; Jessica Wells of Long Island City, NY; Jeff (Stephanie) Flott of Dwight, IL; Amy (Cort) Rudolph of Kirkwood, MO; Carrie (Erik) Golden of Fairbury, IL; and five great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Willard and Ralph Knapp; and sister, Alice Knapp.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Phyllis will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church in Decatur. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church. Burial will be in Brown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Phyllis may be made to Bethlehem Presbyterian Church or Imboden Creek Living Center.
The family would like to give special thanks to their dear friends at Imboden Creek Living Center for all the loving care given to Phyllis throughout the years, and their many kindnesses to Mom and us all.
