Raymond L. "Ray" Sobottka's Obituary
Decatur – Raymond L. “Ray” Sobottka, 79, of Decatur, passed away Friday, September 25, 2015 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Ray was born September 5, 1936, in Decatur, Illinois, the son of Gustav and Anna Sobottka. For many years Ray was a partner in Wilkerson & Sobottka Construction and then was the owner/operator of Ray Sobottka and Son Construction. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and Decatur Area Homebuilders Association. Ray married Linda Bolin on March 30, 1956 and she preceded him in death on October 13, 2002. Also preceding him in death were his parents and brothers: Karl, Paul, George and Fred.
Ray is survived by his children: Rob Sobottka and Terry (Tom) Wagner all of Decatur; grandchildren: Jennifer and Will Wagner; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, and his cat, Dottie.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Tuesday, September 29, 2015 in the Moran & Goebel Funeral home. Funeral services to celebrate his life will be 2 pm Wednesday, September 30, 2015 in the funeral home. Private burial will take place in Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Homeward Bound Pet Shelter.
