Robert L. Strachan, Sr.'s Obituary
Robert L. Strachan, Sr., 80, of Decatur, passed away, Tuesday, November 13, 2012 in Decatur Memorial Hospital. Robert was born April 25, 1932 in Webster City, IA, son of James K. and Helen (Kolbeck) Strachan. A U.S. Army veteran, Robert was a meat cutter and worked as Santa's helper in the community for many years. Robert married Nelda E. Johnson on April 14, 1953. Surviving is his wife, Nelda of Decatur; children: Linda Fitzpatrick of NM, Susan (Joe) Creek of Cerro Gordo, Robert L. (Debra) Strachan, Jr., of Taylorville, and Dennis (Cheryl) Strachan of AZ; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; brother, James K. (Edna) Strachan of Chestnut; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends and faithful canine companion, Muffin. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Frances. Visitation will be Saturday, November 17, 2012 from 10 am until the service time at 11 am in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with military rites immediately following. Burial will take place at a later date in Macon County Memorial Park. Memorials: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
