Roger Wayne Frey's Obituary
Roger Wayne Frey was born April 10th, 1957, in Decatur, Illinois to Leo and Rosanna Frey. After roughly 69 years of life, he passed away from heart complications on February 4th, 2026, at HSHS St John’s Hospital of Springfield.
He lived and worked in multiple places but retired in the spring of 2016 from claims of Country Financial. Roger also had his own lawncare business, Three Sons and a Dad, which he ran from 2005 to 2023. He enjoyed travelling to state parks with his wife and family, donating his time at St Vincent De Paul in Bloomington, and fishing alone or with his children and grandchildren.
Roger leaves behind his loving wife of 38 years Cheryl; his son Andrew and his wife Emily as well as their children Clifton and Annaliese; his son Matthew and his wife Alex; and his son Joseph. Roger joins his mother Rosanna and father Leo in heaven.
Visitation for Roger will be held from 9am to 11am on Wednesday, February 11, at Holy Family Church in Decatur. Funeral Mass will follow at 11am. Burial in Mt. Gilead Cemetery will follow the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer people make donations to either St Vincent De Paul Holy Trinity Conference or Gift of Hope. The family would also like to thank from the bottom of their hearts the following: the doctors and nurses of St John’s cardiovascular ICU for the amazing work and attentive care Roger received while in their stead, Colleen and Tim Barnhart for opening their home and hearts during the difficult time in the hospital, and all of Roger and Cheryl’s extended family for their love and support now and in the future.
