Ruby "Maxine" Hopkins' Obituary
Decatur-Ruby “Maxine” Hopkins, 91, of Decatur, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2014 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Maxine was born April 25, 1923 in Herrin, Illinois, the daughter of James and Ora (Vaughn) McGee. She retired from General Electric, was a member of Mound Chapel Church of God, and volunteered with the St. Mary’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting and crafts. She married Clarence G. Hopkins March 5, 1965. He preceded her in death January 14, 1999.
She leaves behind her son Larry Mayer, daughter Diane (Ron) Uher, grandchildren Andrea Mayer, Nathan Mayer, Michelle (Zack) Kemp, and Kyle (Kristen) Mayer, great-grandchildren Lauren, Katelynn, Melissa, and Christopher, fou stepchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was reunited in Heaven with her parents, husband, infant daughter Linda Kay, one brother, and two sisters.
Services to celebrate Maxine’s life will be 2 p.m. Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services. Burial will be 1 p.m. Friday, October 3, 2014 at Herrin City Cemetery in Herrin, Illinois. Memorials are suggested to Mound Chapel Church of God.
