Sherri Lynn White's Obituary
Sweet “Sherri Baby” Lynn White, 45, of Decatur, departed from this life on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at 6:52 pm in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Sherri was born January 31, 1963 in Decatur, the fourth child to the union of Sidney White, Jr. and Jo Lee Williams. As a young child, she developed a love for music and entertaining. At 16, she was one of the founding members of the Black Diamond Band, performing with many of her favorite blues singers.
She leaves to cherish fond memories and be greatly missed by her fiancé Patrick Donwell; her loving daughter, LaShonda White of Decatur; mother, Jo Lee McElrath of Decatur; father, Sidney White Jr. of Decatur; sisters: Letha Mae Johnston of Belleville, Gloria White-Woods, Shevell White and Mary Jackson of Decatur; May Dyer and Schewonda Bryon Jackson; brothers, Sidney White III, Joe L. White, Joe E. White and Maurice Blythe of Decatur; special brother-in-law, Donald Woods; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Sherri was preceded in death by her grandparents, Joe & Mary Williams; Sidney Ida White; and infant son, Donald White Jr.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff a DMH ICU West and Dr. Kola.
Farewell and Tribute Service: 12:00 noon Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at Church of the Living God PGT Temple #2; visitation one hour before the service. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
