I was really saddened when I heard of Shirley's passing. She was such a fun person to be around. Whenever I played at Whitmore Park with my children…and now my grandchildren I would think of Shirley. How impressive to have a park dedicated in your honor.May her memory live on in the hearts of all that knew her. Decatur, IL US
To Leslie, Tom & their older sister & brother and family.I was very sad to hear about your mother's passing. She was always very kind to me and I remember her very fondly. I will never forget how much she cared for your dog Beau, as well as the pointers she gave me before I took my drivers test to get my first license when I was 16. I think the guy was afraid to even consider failing me because I knew your mother! I know it has been many years since we have been neighbors, but I still think about your family frequently. My Dad updates me on Leslie from time to time & had told me how your mother ran in the Boston Marathon years ago. I may be many miles away in Alabama, but a big part of my heart is still in Decatur. I wish there was something I could say or do to take the pain of your loss away, but unfortunately I can't. I do hope you all can find comfort in your many fond memories of your mother and warmth of her love for all of you. God has a new Angel in Heaven to help watch over you all. I hope there is some comfort in knowing there are many who care about all of you and are keeping you in their prayers. Dear Family: My childhood memories are filled with good times with Aunt Shirley and you. My most cherished memory is when Aunt Shirley and Uncle Roger came to my Dad's funeral – it meant so much to me. I pray that Aunt Shirley, my mom and their parents are all together in Heavan and and are filled peace at last. I have always loved Aunt Shirley and grieve her passing but will keep her in my heart and prayers until I join her myself one day.
