Shirley Marie Mulholland's Obituary
Shirley Marie Mulholland, 77, of Forsyth, went to join her Heavenly Father at 2:48 pm, Friday, October 17, 2008.
Shirley was born December 5, 1930, in Decatur, the daughter of Bernard and Vera Dunn Witt. A member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and Junior Welfare Association, Shirley was co-owner/manager/instructor at Mulholland Driver Training of Decatur. In 1952 she graduated from Millikin University where she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. That same year Shirley married Roger Mulholland on November 29 in Decatur.
An avid reader and lifelong learner, Shirley has been involved with her alma mater since graduating. She was famous in the family for her oatmeal cookies and could complete a crossword puzzle in ink. She loved hiking, biking, gardening, traveling and bridge. Her favorite hobby was her family because they were the most important to her. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and true friend.
Surviving are her husband, Roger of Forsyth; son, Dr. Michael Mulholland and wife Patty of Ann Arbor MI, their children: Erin and Andy Zimmer, Kevin, Katie and Brenna; son, Thomas Mulholland and wife Annette of Castle Rock, CO, their children: Claire, Sam and Grace; daughter, Cathy McFadin and husband Michael of Bloomington, their children: Kelly and Chris; daughter, Leslie Ross and husband Greg of Warrensburg, their children: Haley Wade and Cristi Haddock; great granddaughters: Jenna and Cailyn Haddock; brother-in-law, Ronald Mulholland of Scottsdale, AZ; sister-in-law, Marcia Goltermann and husband Bob of Elmhurst.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Maurine Brown of Peoria.
Memorial Mass of the Resurrection to celebrate her life will be 11 am, Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church; visitation will be one hour prior to the mass. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be given to Millikin University or Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
The family of Shirley Marie Mulholland is being served by the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, 2801 N. Monroe St. Decatur.
