Decatur- Stephen W. Bart, 73, of Decatur went to be with his Lord and Savior, Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Imboden Creek Living Center.
A service to celebrate the life of Stephen will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at St. John Lutheran Church, Decatur, Illinois, with a visitation at the church from 10:00 a.m. to the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to St. John’s Lutheran Church. Moran and Goebel is assisting the family with the arrangements. Stephen was born November 6, 1937 in Decatur, Illinois, the son of William and Helen Kopetz Bart. He attended LSA grade school, and graduated from Stephen Decatur High School. Stephen worked for Superior Welding Company and retired from there as the National Sales Manager. He incorporated the Illinois Vanguard Company where he preformed government inspections for domestic and international clients, servicing approximately 20 foreign governments; he retired a second time in December, 2009. He married Janet Dwyer on October 18, 1968, she preceded him in death April 21, 2000.
He leaves behind on this earth to cherish his memory, sons; Christopher and wife Amanda of Clive, Iowa, and Matthew of Decatur, daughter; Kimberly of Forsyth, grandchildren; Madeline K. Bart, and Jonathan W. Bart.
Stephen was greeted into Heaven by his parents, and his two brothers, Robert W and Joseph G. Bart.
