V. Faye McFadden's Obituary
Decatur – Faye McFadden, 90, of Decatur, died Friday at Imboden Creek Living Center where she had resided for several years. She was the devoted wife of William Thomas McFadden who preceded her in death in 2008. They were married September 27, 1948 in Decatur.
Faye was born October 30, 1923 in Decatur to Frank and Lena Bonham. Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sisters, Dorothy Amix and Betty Ann Hinton, as well as her oldest son William James McFadden. She is survived by a sister, Gladys Satterlee, Grand Rapids, SD; brother-in-law Philip (Ilda) McFadden, Springfield; sister-law Dorothy Jean Baker McFadden, Decatur; daughter-in-law Debra McFadden, United Arab Emirate; daughter Molly (Phil) Keener, Rockledge, FL; son Timothy (Debbie) McFadden, Decatur; son Kelly (Linda) McFadden, Gibsonia, PA; son Shaun (Jeannie) McFadden, Decatur; daughter Maura (Rick) Potter, Rockledge, FL. She is also survived by twenty-one grandchildren, fifteen nieces and nephews and seven great grandchildren.
Faye attended Decatur schools, graduating in 1941 in the first Decatur High class to graduate in Kintner Gym. She was proud to be a life-long resident of Decatur and a long-time member of St. Patrick parish. Besides raising six children, she was also active in the community and did volunteer work with St. Mary’s Hospital and the Headstart program. After her children were grown she worked at the Decatur Township office and retired from that position to enjoy time with her family, which included may memorable trips to Florida. Mom had a great sense of humor and a true zest for life. Her daily life was centered around her family and her faith. She loved to dance and she and dad were an impressive couple on the dance floor, as graceful and passionate together in the 1940’s as they were nearly fifty years later.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 17, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Moran and Goebel Funeral Home; vigil prayer service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Patrick Catholic Church. The family wishes to thank the staff at Imboden Creek Living Center for their compassionate care. We live in hope that the breastplate of St. Patrick will protect her in death as it has in life and that the ancient heroes and heroines of our forgotten dreams will nurture her in the life to come.
