Virginia Maxine Six's Obituary
Virginia Maxine Six, 92, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2009 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Virginia was born January 3, 1917, in Danville, the daughter of Schuyler Colfax and Georgia Florence Noell Six. She grew up in Danville, graduating from Danville High School and Browns Business College. She worked for the WPA in Danville, and transferred to Decatur where she met her husband, Charles Wilford “Wif” Six. They were married June 21, 1943 in Omaha, NE, when Charles was in the service. After Charles got out of the service they moved to Decatur where Virginia worked for Cash Valve. After her husband passed away in 1991, Virginia lived in Brigham City, UT, and Danville, IL, for several years before moving back to Decatur.
Virginia was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She loved the gospel and spent much of her time teaching, helping with the music and serving in the Church. She was always generous with her time and resources in doing what she could to help others.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, husband and twelve siblings.
Visitation will begin at 10 am, Monday, August 24, 2009 with the funeral service at 11 am in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 3955 Lourdes Drive, Decatur. Interment will be in Macon County Memorial Park. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ward missionary fund of the Decatur Second Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
