My sincere condolences to Sherley, Billy and their extended family. For almost 22 years I worked with Bill at the H & R and considered him a wonderful co-worker, manager and friend. He was always upbeat and never hesitated to answer a question or help out employees. When his expertise was needed, he would be there whether it was 8 a.m., 8 p.m. or 2 a.m. when the press might not be functioning properly. When we had events or cookouts for employees, he jumped right in with a smile to grill the burgers or do whatever was needed. When bowlers were needed for the Community Challenge, we were very lucky to have the Tyus family–sure wish some of their bowling expertise would have rubbed off on me!Bill was very proud of his family, and often spoke of Sherley and Billy's accomplishments and their family's closeness. He was thrilled when Billy gave the newspaper business a try after graduating from college. We were lucky to have had Billy on our team, even if it was only for several years. The H & R will never be quite the same without Bill Tyus, but those of us who were privileged to have worked with him will have many fond memories of Bill and how he contributed so positively to our lives. He's probably up in heaven right now working on a 300 game!
